Hello everyone!
We made it home safely from our Pacific Northwest trip.
We just wanted to say thank you to everyone who sponsored and supported us.
The Get Your Guts in Gear (GYGIG) cause means a lot to us and it is nice to be
able to share it with our friends, family, and coworkers. A special thanks
to the GYGIG Crew for all of their support as well. Judy, the GYGIG
founder, has really orchestrated a well oiled machine, and from a riders
perspective everything is seamless and we feel safe and supported the whole
time. But having been on the NY crew I know a lot of hard work goes on
behind the scenes and we are very appreciative as riders.
We couldn't have asked for more beautiful weather or views on
the ride this year. In the afternoons it got into the low 80s but there
was always a breeze keeping us cool. We had spectacular views of the North
Cascade Mountains, the Olympic Mountains, the Puget Sound, and all of the cute
towns we rode through. We even got to ride on a ferry!
This ride was a family affair this year as we had more family
joining us. Emily, my twin sister, who has been suffering from Crohn's for
16 years, switched sides and joined us riding this year, while Garrett's parents
(Seena & Joe) joined as Crew volunteers. We had a blast together.
Below our some of our pictures and videos from the 3 days. The videos may
take a few minutes to load so be patient. Enjoy!

Pacific Northwest ride.
We posed with our friend Allison behind the banner. You can tell by the
size of our smiles that we've ridden less than 1 mile at this point.
Rest Stop 1, Day 1, where we wait to get on the ferry to Whidbey Island.

We had some gorgeous views and weather all 3 days of the ride. Riding
along the water we also had a nice cool breeze.
Emily and Hilary are slightly delirious as they realize they made it to Camp 1
the first day. The first day was definitely the hilliest day so it was
especially nice to have that under our belt.

Breakfast Day 2.
We had a rough start to Day 2. :) But we're still pedaling along.
Garrett has lots of time to stop and take pictures and pose for pictures because
he was riding light years ahead of us. Although occasionally he'd wait for
us to snap our picture.
Dinner Day 2, Camp 2. Seena's birthday!

Emily performs All By Myself.
Rest Stop 4 Day 3.
The view of the mountains heading down the hill 1 mile from the finish.
Emily and I shed tears and share hugs as we crossed the finish line. A
sweep van threatened to sweep us in the last 2miles of the ride, but we
disregarded and rode to the finish and we were able to finish all 210 miles.
More hugs from our friends from Rest Stop 4.
We took time to smell the roses after the ride.
We finished our GYGIG adventure with a few nights in a cooshy hotel in Seattle
for some R&R.
